A couple people have asked me what the purpose of this blog is if it's not a forum and I guess I confused people by saying that it was a forum redesign that made me get off my duff and create this blog.
The question of purpose is a difficult one in any blog. This is actually easier than most. I would like very much for this site to become a resource for jewelry professionals, hobbyists, and amateurs (in the most literal sense). Over on the left, you'll see a series of "Categories". Every post is categorized. If you're looking for tutorials, click tutorials. There will also be categories for lampwork, metal clay, silversmithing, etc. But I hope that there will be more here than just medium-specific jewelry instruction. Eventually, I want to have people writing on all aspects of jewelry, from "what celebrities are wearing" to "how do I sell at a profit" to "does this even qualify as jewelry?" with a whole bunch of tutorials and other interesting stuff mixed in.
I think it will evolve rather slowly. Building a community takes time.
For those of you unused to blogs, I will be posting an explanation of how to use an RSS feed so that you can keep track of when new articles appear. (This won't give you new comments, but if you're a commenter and comment-reader, chances are you'll be checking back often enough that you won't need a feed.)
Sit back, relax, and make yourself at home.
