The Goddess - Motherhood & Fertility
This necklace is made of sterling silver wire, freshwater pearls and swaroski cristals.
I wanted to symbolise the mother's matrix. The little pearls of different sizes refer to the woman's eggs. Plenty of them that mature and fall out or develop into babies through's her life.
I am working on rings because I want to make some for Christmas gifts, actually I have 4 to make. This is my 1st to practice. I used the Wire Artist Jeweller tutorial by Patricia Capotosto from the July/August 2004 issue. The stone in this ring is one the I faceted in a class about 10 years ago and is a 11mm round brilliant with a depth of 8mm. Probably not the best stone to start with, too large in the depth, and I will have to learn how to adjust for that. Also I will try to make the prongs a little shorter.

I'm late again, life has been crazy for the last month & something had to give. How come it's the thing I wanted to do most? Urgh! About all I have had time for is a quick look at everyone else's wonderful work. Thing's have settled down a little bit now so I hope to be more involved in the last few weeks of the season.

My good friend and coworker ordered this custom bracelet for his wife, who was due to give birth to their second child. He surprised her with it after her c-section and apparently she just was floored by the bracelet (translation - because he was so incredibly thoughtful!) They are both such nice people, it's times like this that I really enjoy this hobby.
This piece reminds me a little bit of a lotus flower. I know I have probably got the look all wrong, but it did seem goddess like to me! I have been holding on to this rhodocrosite cab for about six or seven months now. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it, but needed to work up the courage. I am fairly happy with this piece, except for the top right hand loop that holds the cab in... it isn't symmetrical with the rest of the piece. I sort of came up with the setting in my mind, and worked from there... it ould be better, but for something I just sort of came up with, it works pretty well!
Although I have not posted in several weeks, I have been busy creating more items. Here are three of them.
Copper, copper, and then a little more copper. Can't have enough of it around here it seems.
This still needs to be tumbled, and I'm going to replace the plain spiral charm with something a bit bigger to better match the other charms. It's fairly simple, but there's lots of little details in there, which is what I like best about it.

Another catch up post... it'll be a post a day until I am up to date, it seems.
This is my week 8 piece; I had a lot of fun chosing all the various semi-precious beads for this (and I cant remember what the majority of them are, sorry!). Again, I loved the theme chosen. I had a lot of different thoughts of what to do, but time run away from me & I decided to go with something simpler & quicker. My "bigger" Goddess piece will have to be made later I think...
So how is this on theme? Well I decided to go with spring colours, as I feel spring is a very "Goddess-y" time - all the flowers / plants / vegetables have come back out after the chill of winter. I decided to use a lot of rose quartz in this piece - as it is meant to be a stone of love & I felt that was appropiate :) And I went for a spiral pendent as circles are traditionally associated with the Goddess. Lots of reasons for my choices!
I hope everyone had fun with their Goddess pieces, I certainly did :)

Ps One more thing - I am looking for a light tent (I think it is called) so I can improve my photos. I am sick of loading up yuk photos every week, I would like to do something more professional looking! I have been given some nice hints before about my photos, but I'm wondering if anyone can reccommend any set-up's / specific brands I could use. Thanks!
A simple necklace, but the hand-faceted carnelian really adds to it.
I'm late and brain dead. I'm sure many of you can relate. =)
I used 24 gauge sterling silver wire and the carnelian beads are 4-5 mm.
