In the interest of catching up, I am going to use commissions for this week and next. They are both very "earthy".
I have a customer with similar taste in lampwork beads as mine. Every now and then she sends me beads to work into bracelets. Sometimes with suggestions and sometimes with a free rein. It is always fun.
This latest set my customer sent is by lampwork artist Cheryl Sweeny. They are my favorite colors to work with, and I love Cheryl's beads but for whaever reason I could not settle on a design I liked. I couldn't seem to find a way to work with the intense patterns in the beads. Finally I decided to split the beads in two and make two bracelets.
This bracelet has a metal worked copper piece that refects the design on the focal bead. The base of the bracelet is 14 gauge sterling wire. In addition to the lampwork beads from my customer I have used copper beads, bone beads, Hill Tribe beads, additional lampwork and ceramic spacers.
The copper piece has been hand cut and sanded, textured with a ball peen hammer and then drilled. The entire piece was given a LOS treatment.
