Trinity necklace

I can imagine antique godesses and queens wearing such a necklace.  A delicate piece of work enhanced with pearls and semi-precious stones.

a fine sterling silver wire was crocheted, with a random set of stones (garnets, amethyst, carnelian and citrine) and champagne + dark grey freshwater pearls.

It was fun. I have then played with what to do with them: a pendant and 2 earrings or a long pendant?

Week 6 - more rings

This one is sterling and a 6mm Swarovski pearl. Really light and lovely. Learned it from a tutorial and was really surprised to see how dainty it was in real life.

Earth, Week 6 - Antiquity - Ellen/rubystar

I made this set to donate to a local theatre company (since I am not in the cast this time) for the silent auction they will be holding during the performances of their Christmas show.

I chose red as the crystal color partly due to the season and partly because I like the little pop of bright red with all the silver. The angel dangling from the extender chain is there to remind the wearer of her night at the theatre, where the show this year is the musical version of "It's a Wonderful Life" and every time a bell rings... well, you know the rest!

It fits our "Antiquity" theme (although it is veeery late...) because it looks medieval and old-worldly to me and also reminds me of a style that royalty might have worn way back when. Except that it is a wee bit too shiny to be all that antique! LOL

Wk 6 - Antiquity

Hi just a quick catch up post before I head off to work this morning.  I tried to post this (and my next posts) last week, but it crashed halfway though, which was annoying!

Anyway, onto Antiquity - i loved the theme.  Thanks whoever suggested it!  I heaps of fun looking around at lots of antique jewellery.  There is some amazing (and so expensive!) stuff out there.

I based my work on something I saw online.  The reason I chose Amethyst as my stone, is because that was the best sized stone for what I wanted to do, that Icould see.  I also used purple swarvoski beads too.  In the end my piece ended up VERY different from what I was attempting, but isn't that always the way?

Week 6 - glass beads

My friend Jean recently went to the bead and button show in America.  She bought me back these beautiful glass beads which are green with just a flash of orange in them.  I wanted to keep the design simple so that all the focus was on beads.

Week 6- Antiquity

I took time to do some photos today and will post them quick before I fall farther behind.  I suppose I could talk about the antiquity of pearls.... but I guess it's more acurate to say I am off theme. 

This entry is another of my projects that I have always wanted to try.  My goal is to get through a good number of them during the year.  I was also motivated to do this one because it is a perfect gift for my daughter-in-law.

The project is from Bead on a Wire  by Sharilyn Miller.  I took several pictures but can't seem to show the colors of the fresh water pearls very acuratly.  The center is white, the next two are a silver and the outer ones are a darker gray.  I used 18 gauge wire, head pins, etc. all in sterling.  I had to make small modifications from the original due to my "stash" vs. the required materials, but it still looks close to the orginal.

Week 6 - weirdlywired

I made this ring while in panic mode trying to get ready for a show last weekend. 

It uses a small left over coil here as the "bead". It has been very lightly oxidized and tumbled.  I also made one in copper, and both of them are too big for me to wear, so I need to make another.

Antiquity-Margit

I have these spools of artistic wire that I have never seem to play with.   Using jute string as my base and wrapping these silver beads and silver swarovsky pearl, I was attempting a vine form.  The center piece is a charm that I made about 6 months ago and cast aside.  Once I perfect my vine, I will translate it into silver wire.  Thanks.

Week 06 - Remy

I have made a few beads this week and have put them up in my journal (Lampwork Journey section)  but I really cannot make any jewellery from my beads yet (unless they are for myself or my children) because they're not annealed.  I don't have a kiln yet and haven't arranged to have any of my beads 'batch' annealed by someone else because I don't really have enough at this point.

Anyway,.this little pendant is for my  9yr old daughter.  She loves the little Koalas that I make, so I thought I'd put one of these little guys on one of my beads,.. if it cracks,.. I just redo.

Antiquity

Cameo

I must admit I drug my feet on this one. Came up with several ideas...one of which being a Victorian style Cameo with a slight modern twist. This turned out to be a project that gave me a run for my money. I think my muse was somewhere else mentally.

The cab is bezel set in sterling silver...to which I added a bail that mimics a ribbon effect. Then fresh water pearls were attached with E6000 to add a little pop. Dangling from the bottom of the pendant are garnet beads framed with pearls.

Also LOS was used to give the piece a more antique feel.
